the laws of this country [23 Nov 2003|08:36pm]

[ mood | craving a cigarette ]

I don't really think I like America that much. I got a ticket today for underage smoking. The hell? I am seventeen and I apparently cannot smoke. Damn it. I'm still really excited about the LotR production - I just need to meet more of my castmates. Still haven't talked to that Liv Tyler yet. Seems very nice. Off to get some nicotine gum, stupid laws.

Okay, so we now have an OOC journal, shsarts_hallway, which will be fixed up to look all nice later on. This is where you can post to let us all know if you're going to be away from the game for awhile, to discuss plotlines, etc. Hopefully it'll make organization a little bit easier. ^_^

Hey, if anyone wants to practice lines for the play,... I forgot what I was going to write. Need to learn to type faster. Anyhow, I figure that with all the recent off-the-chart readings on the Weird-Shit-O-Meter (is that how you say it?) that most of us probably haven't gotten much time to really concentrate on much.

On an unrelated note, call me overly idealistic, but well, the whole school seems to be sort of fixed in its cliques... it's sort of strange, but I guess I shouldn't have expected anything more. I suppose it's just about the same everywhere. After all, it's obvious that appearances make the person... Okay, I think I'm just frustrated.

Why don't we ever do anything about it? Then again, maybe we just don't want to...

Whatever happened to the justice system in America?

Principal Snyder's forcing - no, requesting with suggestive eyes that I help out the drama club in preparing for this year's musical. Will, Xand - you know that my only area of expertise does not involve painting, or sewing, or anything that involves glue. (Long story.) And as much as I'd like to show my Razorback pride, there is no possible way that I'm going to even have time.

(Maybe I'll lug sets around. Works the abs.)

Soemone please remind me to stay away from foreign exchange students in the future.

Especially life-sucking mummies.

But damn was she hot...

Right. Staying away.

Stuart still hasn't shown up for rehearsals, so the part's gone to Viggo. Heard Stuart hasn't been in school the past few days, either -- weird.

Went to the football game yesterday with a few guys from the play. It still doesn't compare to real football, but there wasn't much point in us going to the Bronze; no one's there on game nights. Cordelia, love, I couldn't find you after the game, but you looked great. I'm sure you knew that, though.

Game stopped halfway through -- some kind of fire. Some rumor going around that Buffy Summers was involved. Rumors are always going around that she's involved in the weird things, though.

Headed to the Bronze with Viggo and Orlando tonight, partly to work on that paper for English, since rehearsals are taking most of the afternoons now.

Well, congratulations, Miss Summers. You've managed to burn down two school buildings in the past few years. That's got to be a record.

You'll see me in my office on Monday.

The rest of you, Parent Night will be this week. Those of you who are here from different parts of the country (or world), consider yourselves lucky.

The Lord of the Rings production sounds cool. Think I'll go out for tech crew. And maybe I can talk Dev into auditioning to play an Elf extra...

Too much to do in so little time!

I think I did well on my English test. That makes me feel a bit better.

My arms are sore from rehearsals. Hard work, but definitely worth it.

Yes, I am immortal! Bow down to me!

Kidding! (Unless you really want to)

Do I have to get an English accent to get some love around here?

I mean really!

Wow. Giles with an online journal. Something I never thought I would see. Ever.

And yes Giles, no matter what you say, there is something appealing about a guy with an accent of any kind. Be it Brittish, Austrailian, Irish. Whatever. Its a very good thing.

I am *never* letting Buffy and pals drag me into another one of their "adventures" again...It always leads to my almost death. Well no more.

Now...off to cheerleading practice.

Aw, Giles, you figured out the Infernal Machine!

One the subject of accents: they're... well, they're sexy. And I've heard that you English-people enjoy a good American accent as well. So don't go ragging on us, Mr. Hypocrite!

And I'll get on the research for the- project I'm doing for you. For the extra credit.

Note: Although this is technically a public entry, it's being played as though only Buffy, Willow, Xander and Cordelia can see it.

Well, after that scare with the Master last week, I think it's safe to say school has officially begun again. You did well, Buffy; you've defeated an infamous vampire not once, but twice.

First of all, I'd like to reinforce the idea that my personal life -- that is, who I choose to -- there are certain things that are not your business.

More importantly, Buffy believes that we might be dealing with grave-robbers, and the intriguing possibility of voodoo, or some other sort of -- of zombies. So, ah, if you hear anything suspicious, or concerning... just be aware, everyone, all right?

And Cordelia, I feel it's my duty to remind you that there is nothing so special about a boy with an accent -- be it English, New Zealand or Martian, that it ought to distract you from your studies. I know you're not going to listen to me, but someone should probably say it.

(Quite frankly, I don't quite understand what Americans find so attractive about English accents, but I suppose that's neither here nor there.)

[ mood | confused ]

first rehearsal today for Lord of the Rings. I spent most of Friday night at the Bronze, of course, and then half the weekend trying to get through those books. Still haven't got to the part where I come in -- I can't help it, it's like reading Nyquil! Thank God for the scripts.

Stuart didn't show up for rehearsal. Didn't see him in the halls, but I wasn't really looking. Weird.

Course, as if it weren't enough that we're only a couple weeks into school and some of us have this play just getting started, we all have to do this science fair thing, too. I really hope I'm not going to have to look into tutoring this early; I'm not one of those brain-dead football players.

I'd better get to that homework. bloominsmile and I had been studying for the English test in the library during lunch, but the librarian and the computer teacher chased us out. Looked like that Buffy girl and a couple of her friends were heading for it when we left. Sounded like they were talking about a corpse, but that can't be right.

Come to think of it, a lot of things at this school are weird. Maybe they WERE talking about a corpse.

A message from Mr. Jackson [10 Oct 2003|11:09pm]
The cast for The Lord of the Rings will be as follows:

Aragorn -- Stuart Townsend
Boromir -- Sean Bean
Frodo Baggins -- Elijah Wood
Gandalf -- Ian McKellen
Gimli -- John Rhys-Davies
Legolas -- Orlando Bloom
Meriadoc Brandybuck (Merry) -- Dominic Monaghan
Peregrin Took (Pippin) -- Billy Boyd
Samwise Gamgee -- Sean Astin

Arwen -- Liv Tyler
Elrond -- Hugo Weaving
Galadriel -- Cate Blanchett
Haldir -- Craig Parker

Denethor -- John Noble
Eomer -- Karl Urban
Eowyn -- Miranda Otto
Faramir -- David Wenham
Theoden -- Bernard Hill
Wormtongue -- Brad Dourif

Bilbo Baggins -- Ian Holm
Rosie Cotton -- Sarah McLeod

Gollum/Smeagol -- Andy Serkis
Saruman -- Christopher Lee

The first rehearsal will be on Monday. Everyone will need to be there to recieve copies of their scripts, but we will not need many of you (those playing Rohirrim, for instance) until later. A rehearsal/performance schedule will be distributed with scripts on Monday. We will still need many extras for the parts of various Elves, Men, Hobbits, Orcs, etc, so if you're interested, please let myself, Ms. Walsh, or Ms. Boyens know. This will be a very high-tech show, so we'll be putting out a call for tech crew sometime in the next few weeks.

Thank you to everyone who tried out, you were all wonderful, and we look forward to this being a great show!

OOC Note: Yes, of course Viggo Mortensen will eventually be playing Aragorn. But if you're familiar with the casting process, Stuart Townsend was originally cast as Aragorn. Jackson & co. eventually decided that they'd cast him too young, and there were some other things that forced Stuart to leave. Viggo was brought on. In our version, it'll be similar... well, you'll see how things play out.

[ mood | nervous ]

so I think the Lord of the Rings auditions went pretty well. Couple of guys from my AP english class were there, Orlando and Viggo.

Cast list gets posted on Friday. Here's hoping; I'll either be at the bronze celebrating that evening, or I'll be at the bronze trying to ease the pain. I know, you've got to get used to rejection in this business, but it's something I -- it still hurts, is all.

So... I'm really excited about the schoolyear, not really the homework. That, I could do without. I can see myself easily failing any and all classes involving writing.

I'm pretty sure I've secured my position as "that short kid with the weird accent." Things are going to be interesting, I think.
